Bleak giants of buildings in deserted streets, firewalls in front of barren squares and the first glass-and-chrome buildings as messengers of future changes - Ulrich Wüst (born 1949) captured the architectural development of the Mitte district in Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The brilliant black-and-white photos with finely tuned gray tones that consistently create new angles, surfaces and structures brought Wüst acclaim in the 1990s. He took part in the "Kunst in der DDR" ("Art in the GDR") exhibit in Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie in 2003 and is regularly seen in German and international museums and galleries.
