Nan Goldin est l'historienne enflamée de l'amour dans une époque de sensualité charnelle, de glamour, et beauté, de violence et de mort. Reconnue comme l'une des photographes les plus fascinantes du monde, son œuvre a une influence notable et durable sur le cinéma, le design, la mode, ainsi que sur les beaux-arts.
Goldin est connue pour ses photographies de styles de vie marginaux, prises dans des centres cosmopolites tels que New York, Londres, Berlin, Tokyo et Paris. Travaillant directement à partir de son expérience personnelle, elle capte des moments qui racontent à la fois des histoires d'amitié, de désirs, et leurs conséquences. Son travail traverse le spectre des relations humaines, de l'amour à l'isolement, la trahison, la perte et la révélation de soi.
